Help is a Four-Legged Word: Is there a service dog in your future?
Speakers (and dogs!) from Canine Companions for Independence
Learn how a service dog could assist with tasks, help with freezing, and provide companionship. Canine Companions trains and places service dogs in homes of those who would benefit, including people who have Parkinson’s. It would be preferable to apply for a service dog early on, when it’s easier to learn how to work with the dog. It’s important for persons with PD to be able to take care of the dog themselves or have someone to assist them with this. If you may be interested in your own service dog, now is the time to apply. Come learn what’s involved in the application process, and have fun seeing what the dogs are capable of.
